Fall is in the air, kids and teachers are heading back to school and we will soon see leaves turning color. We begin the program year at church with a special “blessing of the backpacks” in our worship service.

This is meant for ALL ages: for preschoolers and parents with diaper bags, for school-aged children and their teachers, for high school and college students, and for anyone who carries a backpack or briefcase or tote bag to work or the gym or anywhere else!

Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 8th at the 10:00am worship service and bring your backpack for a blessing. A special tag will be provided for each bag to commemorate the occasion—don’t miss it!

On this 14th Sunday after Pentecost, get out your magic wands, put on your striped scarves, we’re finally ready for “The Gospel According to Harry Potter!” With a scripture focus of Matthew 6: 19-21 https://bit.ly/3yNtQCi, we will consider the Mirror of Erised and more in the well-loved Harry Potter book/movie series.

On this 13th Sunday after Pentecost, we continue our playful summer sermon series with “The Gospel According to Pooh: A Bear of Very Little Brain”. Our scripture focus will be Romans 15: 1-7 https://bit.ly/4cr3UKk.

On this 12th Sunday after Pentecost, we’re back to our pop culture sermon series this week with “The Gospel According to The Beatles: Let It Be” based on Matthew 6: 24-34 https://bit.ly/3Afr5tX. We will also have a solo of the song.

On this 11th Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate communion by intinction. Former Pastor Steve Shive, who served our congregation from 1992-2005, will be preaching. Our scripture is Exodus 3:1-15 https://bit.ly/3zZSwYs and Mark 1:14-20 https://bit.ly/3Wvlvex.

On this 9th Sunday after Pentecost, we continue our summer sermon series with “The Gospel According to Abner Doubleday” as guest preacher Tom Schoffelman considers what the American pastime of baseball has to say about the good news of God. On this 8th Sunday after Pentecost, we continue our summer sermon series with “The Gospel According to Doctor Who: Bigger on the Inside” based on Romans 8: 1-11 https://bit.ly/4bAz7KV. We also celebrate the installation of two new elders, Kirke Ryder and Deb Shober.

On this first Sunday in the month of July, we continue our sermon series with “The Gospel According to Goodnight Moon and More: Storybooks and Spirituality”. Our text is Luke 15: 4-7 https://bit.ly/4bvpM79. We will also share in the sacrament of communion by intinction.

On this last Sunday in June, we continue our summer sermon series with “The Gospel According to Star Wars” based on Romans 5:1-9 https://bit.ly/3VWVYLW. Our preacher will be CE Director Joel Morien, and we have a small ensemble singing “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” as well.
